Purpose Of Z39.50 Server
The Softlink Alice Z39.50 server allows libraries
to make their library collection available to other
libraries, who use a Z39.50 client such as BookWhere,
for searching and sharing of catalogue records.
Z39.50 is a national and international (ISO 23950)
standard defining a protocol for computer-to-computer
information retrieval. With Z39.50 it is not necessary
for the person who is remotely searching your Softlink
Alice system to know the searching syntax that is
used.
